City of Palo Alto City Selfie: A Process Improvement Project

How do you help a city managers of perhaps the most tech-savvy place on earth get and keep employee id badges up-to-date efficiently? You create a CitySelfie app of course! We worked with the city of Palo Alto California to develop a cloud-based application to guide city employees and contractors through the process of taking their badge photo from their own devices. These photos were automatically submitted to the appropriate manager for approval and further processing.

The process of guiding the user through taking and submitting their photo was rather straight-forward; however, the project presented an interesting challenge in that we needed to integrate with their SAP data in order for the application to understand to whom to send photos for approval and to look up and manage employee data.

This project included a web-based front-end, an API, and an administrative portal.
